A Journey Through Memories

Relebohile Mofokeng, born on October 23, 2004, is a talented South African professional footballer who is a midfielder and winger for Orlando Pirates and the South Africa national team. Affectionately known as ‘Captain wama2000’, he brought joy and inspiration to the Phothiza Holdings Holiday Youth Camp on July 4th.

When Relebohile stepped into the El-Bethel Worship Centre in his hometown of Sharpeville, he had no idea how profoundly he would touch the heart of young Bonolo Machesa, a 10-year-old boy from Savannah City. Bonolo looks up to Relebohile as a role model, and the moment they met was truly emotional. Overwhelmed with joy, Bonolo couldn’t hold back his tears, and the sight of Relebohile embracing him and gently wiping away his tears resonated deeply with everyone present. This heartfelt interaction highlights the powerful connection between role models and the youth they inspire.

According to his mother, Mrs Mpho Machesa, Bonolo’s love for soccer knows no bounds. He lives and breathes the beautiful game, seizing every opportunity to play. His dedication is so unwavering that he would undoubtedly play soccer even while he sleeps if it were physically possible. It is therefore no wonder that he adores Relebohile, captain wama2000.

At just 19 years old, Mofokeng stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration for individuals of all ages. In townships like Sharpeville, Boipatong, and Bophelong, he conveys that dreams can be pursued regardless of one’s origins. His journey serves as a powerful reminder that determination and ambition can transcend circumstances, igniting the belief in countless young hearts that they too can achieve greatness. Mofokeng’s story is not just about personal success; it is a testament to the transformative power of perseverance and the potential that lies within each of us.

Every year, we organise the Holiday Youth Camp in the hope of igniting hope in the youth. We endeavour to change their lives by expanding their horizons. Each year we bring in speakers who share their life stories and inspire the attendees. This year had many speakers sharing their stories who include Jimmy Nkwe of Jimmy Nkwe Foundation, Mammuso Pitso, a social worker with Famsa, Alice Sekete, Paulina, a poet, Khanyisile Galela a 15-year-old author and model among others.

  1. Bonolo’s love for soccer started at the age of 5yrs,he would kick anything n at the age of 8yrs he started supporting Pirates that’s where He saw Relebohile Mofokeng. He use used to say Dady u must see this player Ratomo n I want to be like Him. His phone is full of Photo’s of Relebohile Ratomo Mofokeng. He even asked us to buy Him the new Jersey no 38 n we must right it Bonolo on Top then 38 at the bottom right Ratomo, also asked me to take Him to Soweto Durby to see Relebohile playing n it’s my wish to take Him to any match Pirates play, so that He could see Him (Relebohile) playing. We’re fully supporting Bonolo all the way to Persue playing Soccer that is why were still searching for the right soccer Academy that will mold Him till Profesional. After meeting Relebohile face to face at Winter School Camp held at El Bethel Worship Center Sharpville, Bonolo can’t stop talking n boasting to His friends about Relebohile n how he wants to be like Him. He keeps on reminding us (His Parents) to take Him to soccer match or get hold of Relebohile before he Plays any match. So we’re looking forward to make His dream of playing soccer n to be like his role model Relebohile Ratomo Mofokeng.
