Phothiza Holdings Hosts Successful 4th Annual Frankly Spelling Bee Championship 2026.

Phothiza Holdings proudly hosted the 4th Annual Frankly Spelling Bee Championship 2026, a vibrant and inspiring event dedicated to promoting academic excellence and youth development among young learners.

The event was hosted at the esteemed El Bethel Worship Center, in Sharpeville, Vereeniging, and featured a keynote address by Mrs. Seipati Mosesi, an educational psychologist from the Department of Education, who delivered valuable insights into the importance of academic achievement and nurturing young minds. Her message resonated strongly with learners, parents, and educators alike.

Bright and aspirational students from Grades 7 through 10 came together for the event on March 21, 2026, which highlighted the academic prowess and tenacity of young minds around the area. The fact that participants travelled from places like Bophelong, Vanderbijlpark, Sharpeville, Sebokeng, and even Orange Farm is evidence of the initiative’s expanding influence and reach.

The competition was well attended, with each grade fielding more than five enthusiastic participants, reflecting the growing interest and excitement surrounding the championship.

The event announcers, Mr Tshepo Mofokeng and later Ms N. Radebe, guided the audience seamlessly through the proceedings with 3 adjudicators, Ms Violet Mahlangu, Ms Ms Nelisiwe Maluleke and Ms Ms Thokozile Meso, our time keeper being Ms Precious Mangena, working along with them. The Master of Ceremonies, Ms Portia Mawai, spokesperson for Phothiza Holdings, brought remarkable energy to the event adding flair, professionalism. They all contributed greatly to the overall success of the day.

Empowering Minds, One Word at a Time, One Champion at The End.

The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, through its Libraries, Information Services, and Archives team, played a pivotal role in the success of the event. Their generous contribution of medals, trophies, and bags for the winners significantly enhanced the overall experience, reinforcing the spirit of recognition and encouragement.

In a powerful demonstration of inclusivity and motivation, every participating child was awarded a medal, exemplifying Phothiza Holdings’ commitment to celebrating the potential of each learner. As the event drew to a close, excitement and anticipation for next year’s championship were already evident, with promises of an even bigger and better experience.

In his closing remarks, Mr. George Lephoto, Director of Phothiza Holdings, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the church board, leadership, and congregation for their continued support in hosting the event annually. He also acknowledged the parents, emphasizing that the event serves as a platform for them to witness their children’s academic growth and achievements.
